Tier upgrades and downgrades

Tier changes are driven by sender health and sending volume, assessed daily.

Upgrades

  • A new sender needs a minimum of 7 days to assess traffic quality. After this rolling window, an upgrade can happen daily.
  • To qualify, a sender must have sent at least 20% of the tier's total allowed traffic over the past 7 days. For a 500,000 per day tier, that is 700,000 messages (0.2 x 500,000 x 7). The sender is then eligible for an upgrade on day 8.
  • Sender health must be good. It is based solely on user feedback.

Downgrades

  • High negative user feedback leads to At Risk or Restricted health and a downgrade.
  • A sender can be downgraded because of delayed negative feedback, even with low traffic.
  • Health improves gradually if negative feedback is low relative to messages sent.

Staying in a tier

A promotional sender may stay in Tier 2 without using its full capacity, as long as its spam score stays low.

Low-volume senders

A sender that sends fewer than 100 messages over 60 days reverts to its initial tier.
